| p>Francisco Gras was born at Valencia, Spain.
Gras was a pupil of the Spanish Post Impressionist artist Sorolla y Bastida who was also from Valencia. Like his master Sorolla, Gras was influenced and inspired by the work of the French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist movements. His work is concerned with the effect of light and movement on his subjects and consequently has clarity and vivacity. Gras was also inspired by his native country and the strong light and colours of the Spanish landscape although he also painted figure subjects with the same passion. From 1927 Gras exhibited at the Paris Salon. His work is rare and seldom appears on the market. |
