Biographical Details

Nicolas Baudesson was born at Troyes in 1611.

Baudesson was a painter of still lifes and of flowers who enjoyed considerable success in his own lifetime and whose reputation has remained undimmed.

Baudesson lived and worked in Paris and for thirty years in Rome. He was considered one of the best flower painters of his époque. On the 26 May 1671 Baudesson was admitted to the Academie de Paris. A large number of Baudesson’s flower paintings may be found at Versailles.

Baudesson never signed his paintings although there is one recorded example from the collection of Gille Leblanc, dated 14 January 1678 .

Nicolas Baudesson died in Paris in 1680.
