Adrien Karbowsky was born in Paris on 15 December 1855. Karbowsky was a pupil of the painters Puvis de Chavannes, Levastre and Lequien. A member of the Societe des Artistes Francais from 1883, Karbowsky exhibited there throughout his life. In 1889 he was awarded a prize for his work, in 1900 took part in the World Exhibition in Paris and in 1910 in an exhibition in Brussels. From 1902, Karbowsky was a Chevalier de la legion d'Honneur and was also a member of the Comite de la Nationale and of the Salon des Tuileries. As well as being a painter of flower still lifes, Karbowsky was also a Theatre designer, decorator, cartoonist and designer of public buildings e.g.: The Mayoral Hall of Nugent-sur-Marne. |
