Biographical Details

Marc-Laurent Bruyas was born at Lyon on the 7 June 1821.

A pupil of Frederic Grobon, Thierriat and Bonnefond at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Lyon.

From 1857-1895, Bruyas exhibited at the Lyon Salon and from 1863 -1870 at the Paris Salon and the Dijon Salon of 1881. In the Lyonnais tradition, Bruyas painted still lifes of flowers and fruit in oil and gouache.

From 1877 to 1893, Bruyas was the director of a Municipal school of drawing at Lyon.
