Born in Scoland and became a shipright, he went to London and became a marine painter influenced by the 17th century Dutch school. Best know for his small works he exhibited in the RA from 1787 and at the British Institute from 1810. Anderson's last exhibit at the RA was in 1834, he was a friend of Julius Ceasar Ibbotson, and collaborated wih him on a number of pantings. His works are exhibited in many museums worldwide. |
