Binet was a student of Cormon and Raphael Collin, he exhibited in the Paris Salon from 1889 until 1939 and at l’Exposition Coloniale in 1906. He gained an honourable mention in 1899, a third-class medal in 1904, a second class medal in 1912 and was made Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur in 1937. He found inspiration in the great 19th century impressionists, and in the atmosphere of the Seine and its estuary. He is noted for his depictions of coast and marshland, and the flowers of his native Normandy. |
